There are many areas that walkers go for a walking holiday, but here are some of our favourites:
Walking Holidays In Glencoe
Glencoe boasts some of the finest scenery anywhere and is an amazing place to go walking. Ringed by spectacular peaks and with lots of amenities and accommodation nearby it is a hillwalkers paradise. Adventurous walkers might take on some of the fine scrambles in the area such as the Aonach Eagach or Curved Ridge on the Buachaille.
Walking Holidays in Skye
The Black Cuillin of Skye make for a serious walking holiday. Lots of scrambling and climbing to be had there plus one or two tops that walkers can get to without any scrambling involved. Skye also boasts the Red Cuillin and interesting places to explore like the Quiraing and Storr. Stay in Glen Brittle or Sligachan to be closest to the hills, but nowhere on Skye is that far away.
Torridon Walking Holidays
Containing some of the oldest rocks in the world Torridon erupts out of the earth like a prehistoric landscape. These are big hills, not tamed easily. Stay in Torridon Village, Kinlochewe or even Gairloch for nearby accommodation.
Cairngorms
As a national park you would expect some great walking holidays to be had in the Cairngorms. Has a wild beauty all of its own. In winter the Cairngorms regularly take on an Arctic mantle and can be a very wild place. Long walk-ins, big hills and lots of wildlife are characteristics of this area. Stay in Aviemore, Glenmore, Braemar or Ballater to be closest to the big hills.
Walking Holidays around Fort William and Ben Nevis
Fort William bills itself as the outdoors capital of the UK and it certainly seems to live up to that description. Ben Nevis is right on it's doorstep but so are 3 other 4000 ft+ peaks, the Mamores, the Grey Corries and nearby Glencoe too. Loads of accommodation in Ft William and surrounding area. Skiing, biking, walking and climbing in one place.
