The World famous German Christmas Market is in Edinburgh every year and something that must not be missed out on! Finally, warm your heart with some German red wine that is heated up with cinnamon, vanilla and citrus that will remind you a bit of mulled wine. Edinburgh also plays host to Europe’s largest open air ice rink, which attracts visitors from around the World. The city’s Winter Wonderland is open from November right throughout Christmas, so there are plenty of opportunities to get your skates on. Located in Princes Street Gardens the Winter Wonderland also has plenty of fairground attractions to keep kids and adults busy! A 100ft Ferris Wheel will give you some incredible views of the Edinburgh castle, if you think you’re brave enough…

The Great Santa Run

There are no words to describe how incredible it is seeing hundreds of red and white Santa outfits running through the great city of Edinburgh. At the beginning of December, every year, a large amount of people get together to raise money for worthy causes such as “When you wish upon a star” foundation.  Adults and children can all take part, no matter their level of skill. The only rule? You must be dressed as Santa!

If you are on a work training or conference trip near the Royal Mile then you will find yourself spending hours wandering around this beautiful old town. The Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe and The Nutcracker Christmas Shop are so festive that you will come out decked out as a Christmas tree.  There are some great shopping opportunities on The Royal Mile so make sure you stock up on unique gifts, crafts, decorations and edible goodies.

The Lost Elves on Rose Street

This beautiful little event is perfect for the children, although adults can have a go too! Running throughout December it is down to you to find the Lost Elves on Rose Street. Santa’s Chief Elf and Snow Fairy Sparkle will give you a sheet of clues to find the whereabouts of all the Lost Elves before going back to claim your prize! This is a completely free event, so will keep the children entertained whilst you do a bit of shopping.

Lights, Carols and Christmas Trees

All throughout Edinburgh and Scotland there will be a plethora of lighting ceremonies, Christmas Carol Services and stunning Christmas trees. From the end of November until Christmas you will find some dazzling lights, spectacular voices and even reindeer taking over the streets of cities and towns.
