Wednesday, September 10, 2008 Ferry to Scotland No More
Sad to see the cancellation of the Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry with it's last sailing on Saturday. It will leave Scotland without a direct ferry link to mainland Europe. I know a lot of people who used the ferry and it's a shame more wont get the chance now. Hopefully they will find another operator but for now if you want to take a ferry to Europe from Scotland, the closest port is Newcastle with a service to Amsterdam (Ijmuiden).
Comments:
Ferry services will start in Spring, 2009 on on Rosyth - Zeebrugge channel crossings most probably, so nothing to worry.
My Parents used this route (Rosyth to Zebrugge)all the time since they bought a placed in the south of France a few years ago and they used the ferry three times a year and said it was great, comfortable and good value - they were really worried when they canceled the line, so I'll mention to them it's running again from Spring time. If anyone is looking for an alternative before then, P&O run a really good service between Zebrugge and Hull, which is also reasonable in price but not as nice as the Superfast Ferries I afraid to say!
