Thursday, September 15, 2005 Cycling in Scotland
I was reading in today's Strathearn Herald about Visit Scotland's new cycling routecards that they have produced for cycling in Perthshire. I deceided to have a look through www.visitscotland.com to find out about them and found that they have an entire website dedicated to cycling in Scotland. It's fantastic, with loads of bike routes and info. There is also a competition running just now to win a copy of The Ultimate Scottish Cycling Book.
http://www.cyclingscotland.com/ Wednesday, September 14, 2005 Have you been to Camusnagaul yet?
As I trawl around the web reading Scottish holiday websites, blogs and looking at links pages I see a lot of good sites. One that has been working particularly hard recently at making the public eye is www.camusnagaul.com by Dundonnell in Wester Ross.
It's a lovely site and they've obviously worked hard on buliding it and promoting it. The area is beautiful as well and I try to stop around there at least once a year when I'm visiting neighbouring Gairloch or Ullapool. So have a look at the site, or better still pay Camusnagaul a visit. Monday, September 12, 2005 Islay Jazz Festival
I know this site is starting to appear like a what's on guide to Scotland, but there is so much happening this autumn in Scotland that it'd be negligent not to document as much of it as I can.
As such, 16-18 september sees the Islay Jazz Festival 2005. A good line up sees lots of artists and events all weekend. No doubt at all that the Jazz will also seem absolutely top class if you accompany it with some of the island's most famous export. http://www.islayjazzfestival.co.uk/ Perth Concert Hall
The new Perth Concert Hall opened it's doors this weekend so we went along to have a look. Beautiful building, fantastic large auditorium, big cafe and a fantastic line-up of acts between now and Christmas. It should kick a little life into the entertainments in Perth. It also seems like it's being run by the same company as Perth Theatre, so there shouldn't be any casualties of competition either. See it all at http://www.horsecross.co.uk.
Wednesday, September 07, 2005 Shetland Fiddle and Accordion Festival
Shetland's got to be the best place in Scotland to go for a bit of fiddle and accordion music. The Shetland Fiddle and Accordion festival is running from 6-9th October 2005. It's a long ferry ride from Aberdeen, or a short flight from Edinburgh and other airports, so book now.
See www.visitshetland.com for more info. Monday, September 05, 2005 New Scottish Tourist Forum
I've just opened a new forum through the parent site of this blog:
http://www.holidayscotland.org.uk/forum/ Please do go in and post anything you want to discuss about holidays in Scotland. It's pretty bare just now, but the more questions you post, the more answers there will be. Thanks Thursday, September 01, 2005 Scottish Book Town Festival
At the end of this month, Wigtown in Dumfries & Galloway celebrates its 7th annual Scottish Book Town Festival which it claims is a celebration of the written word through books, art, film and theatre.
