Winter Hillwalking
Went up to Glencoe yesterday with a bunch of friends for some winter hillwalking. Had a great day out on the wee Buachaille that involved sun, snow, ice axes, crampons well pretty much everything you can get hillwalking in Scotland in winter. Fantastic day out and most enjoyable.

Nice to see lots of other walkers out in the hills too. I know Glencoe is always busy, but we met two large groups of people being trained in winter skills, ice axe breaking etc, and for the most part they looked like they were enjoying it despite the icy wind.

Quiet roads, plenty parking in car parks and quick service in the pub at the end of the day just makes me want to get out walking in winter a bit more.

Maybe see you out there sometime.

Real Snow in Crieff
WOW!!! - it has finally snowed in Crieff. After 3 years of disasterous winters we woke this morning to 5 inches of fresh white snow. Only one thing for it. Bag work and get out on the golf course with various gravity aided sliding devices. There was a foot of snow up there.
Our 6 month old son got his first ride in a sledge and was less than impressed. Fresh powder snow straight on warm ground didn't make for the best sledging or skiing, so we gave up and came home for a bowl of soup.
Now, just hours after it arrived, it's all melting.
Still, any snow in Scotland is good snow.

Happy New Year from the Holiday Scotland weblog
Happy new year, I hope this one is healthy and prosperous for you.

We had a quiet hogmanay here in Crieff, despite the massive attendance of the festivities in James Square, but we're sure to make up for it soon.

New year gets off to a flying start soon with Celtic Connections music festival in Glasgow. This is a huge festival with some very big names appearing. Check out the website for details.
