Tuesday, March 29, 2005 Cold easter weather
Should have known that it wouldn't be any different from before, but this weekend when we went to Aberdeen, we packed fairly lightweight spring clothes. Doh!
I love Aberdeen, it really is a great city, but I've never been there and had anything less than frostbite when I returned. Should have taken the winter jackets. There's no reason why it should feel colder than the rest of Scotland, it's not that far north. Perhaps it's something to do with ionised water droplets in from the see sucking the heat out of you, perhaps not, but it is a cold place. So what's to see in Aberdeen? well the beach is nice, complete with amusement park and sand - not usually ideal for sunbathing though. The old town around Aberdeen University is georgeous along with the Botanics and attached seton park. There's a great town centre spread around the main shopping street - Union Street, and also lots of lively little pubs around the docks. There are lots of cheap hotel rooms to be had in Aberdeen, esp at the Travel lodge. Go visit Aberdeen, but take a sweater. |
