Die little Midge!

A company selling a £650 machine to attract then kill midges is selling them by the bucketload. The box attracts the little blighters in then traps them at the rate of up to 2 million midges in an evening by eminating a distinctly bovine pheronome.

It works a trick, and if we can convince everyone in the country to buy one, we might just be free of the annual midge bite torture.

And if you can't afford £650 then less than a fiver will get you adequate protection with a midge head net from here:

Something for the weekend

If you are in or around Edinburgh this weekend you could do worse than to visit the Caledonian Brewery for the annual Caledonian Beer Festival.

At the heart of this extravaganza are 25 ales selected for you to taste and savour. Don't savour too long though, or you'll never get through them all.

This is definitely one occasion where it pays to mix your drinks.

Make sure you try the Deuchar's IPA. It is quite simply sublime.

New ferry route planned from Fife to Edinburgh.

Finally someone is planning a new high speed ferry route from Fife to Edinburgh.
You'll be able to avoide the gridlocked roads and overcrowded trains and sail, in comfort from Kirkcaldy, Burntisland or Rosyth straight into the heart of Leith.

Brilliant.
