Scotland has a lot of old railways that have been re-invented
as steam railways and heritage railways run by enthusiasts. Here
is a run-down of some of these Scottish Railways.
Jacobite Steam Train
This is a steam train that runs from Fort William to Mallaig through
some of the most dramatic scenery in the Highlands of Scotland.
It is also known as the Harry Potter line.
Strathspey Railway
On a section of Railway between Aviemore and Nethybridge lies the
Strathspey Railway. This steam railway is an excellent trip with
views of the Cairngorms.
The Caledonian Railway
Operating between Brechin and a station called Bridge of Dun, this
railway seems to have lots of out-of-the-ordinary days such as Thomas
the Tank engine days etc.
The Keith & Dufftown
Railway
This heritage railway links the towns of Keith and Dufftown in Malt
Whisky country.
Alford
Valley Railway
This is Scotland's first narrow gauge 2 ft railway and runs in the
village of Alford in the north-east.
Bo'ness and
Kinneil Railway
Central Scotland's Steam Railway runs along the Firth of Forth by
the Bo'ness shore.
Leadhills and Wanlockhead
Railway
Narrow gauge diesel by the village of Leadhills.
The Isle of Mull
Railway
A railway running for 2km on the Isle of Mull
