Holidays in Scotland

Why take a holiday in Scotland?

Scotland is a small country relative to the USA or Canada, but we can give you one of the most memorable holidays you will ever have. With vibrant and beautiful cities, lush countryside, majestic mountainous highlands and stunning coastal scenery Scotland really is a place that has it all.

How to find a holiday in Scotland

The best way to find a holiday in Scotland these days is usually on the internet. Unless you are particularly fond of them, try to avoid package deals. Several major airlines now fly direct to Edinburgh or Glasgow airports and others will have you change to a local flight in London. Sites like Expedia are good places to find flights and larger hotels, but for smaller accommodation providers you need to search for them on the internet and book directly.

Where to go on a Scottish Holiday

It’s really down to what you want from your holiday. If you like cities then Edinburgh is our capital with loads of history and a vibrant culture. Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city and has fantastic shopping, entertainment, sporting events and galleries.

If golf is your thing then no visit to Scotland would be complete without a trip to St Andrews, the home of golf. Don’t stop at St Andrews though. Turnberry in Ayrshire is another exceptional links golf course and the surrounding area is perfect for a Scottish holiday. The entire country is covered with golf courses that welcome visitors. Search around and you might find a gem of a course.

If it’s scenery you are after, take tour of the Highlands and Islands. From Loch Lomond to Glencoe the drive is spectacular. Carry on up to Skye or Ullapool and sample the delights of the far north-west of Scotland. Visit more of the Islands by ferry. Visit Cairngorms national park, go skiing, and see native Caledonian pine forest and high mountain scenery. There is loads to see and do on a scenic tour of Scotland.

Hillwalking, mountain biking, fishing and other outdoors activities are another reason people choose to take a holiday in Scotland. With top notch facilities for all outdoors sports people come from all across the world to take an outdoors holiday in Scotland.

Hopefully this will give you a taster of what you might gain from taking a holiday in Scotland. Happy travels.
