We're well north, it's dark a lot in Winter and it rains a lot
in summer. So why is Scotland such a popular destination for a golfing
holiday.
1. Scotland is the home of golf
This is where the game of golf started and where it is currently
governed from. At some point in your life you need to play a round
or two of golf in its homeland - Scotland.
2. Scotland has a massive range of golf courses
There are so many golf courses accessible from almost any point
in the country that you choose to base your golf holiday that you
will be spoiled for choice. There is every chance that you'll find
a lovely, quiet nine-holer that will be a delight to play and will
stay in your memory as one of the best courses you've ever played.
3. Visitors Welcome on Scottish Golf Courses
Almost all Scottish golf courses accept visitors. There are a few
exceptions and private clubs but generally you can phone up as a
visitor and get a tee time on most courses.
4. Links courses
Tough seaside courses with unforgiving bunkers, undulating fairways,
strong winds and shed loads of character. If you've never played
a Links course this should be reason enough to come to Scotland
for a golfing holiday.
5. St Andrews, Gleneagles, Carnoustie and others
The big daddies of the golf world. These are the courses we regularly
see our golf heroes battering their way round. And guess what? Pay
your money and you can play exactly where they did.
6. Rarely too hot to golf
The weather in Scotland can be unpredictable, but it is rarely so
hot that you need to go round the golf course in a shopping trolley.
For the majority of the year our weather is perfect for golf.
7. Great golfing holiday companies
There are loads of golfing holiday companies around Scotland who
will handle everything for you from picking you up at the airport
to booking your tee times.
8. Cheap Golf
There are so many golf courses around Scotland that they really
do fight it out for visitors. In many places it is easy to find
a day's golf for £10-20. Usually prices are higher at weekends.
9. Superb 19th holes
The clubhouse is an integral part of all golf courses in Scotland
and many provide excellent catering and bar facilities for a meal
and a refreshement after a game. It would be rude not to really.
10. Loads of other stuff to do
Don't want to play golf every day? Stunning scenery, castles, historical
sites, outdoor activities - there's loads of other stuff to keep
you busy in Scotland.
