Blair Atholl is a small village in north Perthshire. It is located just a few miles north of neighbouring Pitlochry. Blair Atholl is best known for it's castle which can be seen clearly when travelling on the A9 which bypasses the town.

Blair Atholl Castle

This castle is the seat of the Duke of Atholl, and base for the Atholl Highlanders, a private army. The castle and it's grounds are open March to October with more limited times available in the winter. Throughout the year there are many things to do at Blair castle with events and exhibitions regularly scheduled. Blair castle is also a popular venue for weddings.

Blair Atholl Golf Course

This is a pleasant 9 hole golf course in the village of Blair Atholl. Visitors are welcome.

Travel to Blair Atholl

Blair Atholl train station is a stop on the main Perth to Inverness railway line. Many intercity buses also stop in the town. Blair Atholl is just off the A9 which is the main trunk road connecting Perth and Inverness.

Walking in Blair Atholl

Glen Tilt is a spectacular glen running from Blair Atholl north into the Cairngorms. Long walks from here can lead you to Braemar or even Aviemore.
Beinn a' Ghlo is a popular range of hills next to Blair Atholl and contains 3 Munros and countless tops and ridges. Walking all 3 munros is a very long day out.

Cycling around Blair Atholl

There are plenty opportunities for cycling around Blair atholl with quiet roads and country tracks. Previously mentioned Glen Tilt makes a good cycle route into the hills.

Bruar

A couple of miles north of Blair Atholl are Bruar Falls, spectacular waterfalls set in a steep forest gorge. Well worth a walk round, though maybe not with small children or dogs. Beside the start of the walk to the falls is House of Bruar - a large operation showcasing the best of Scottish food, clothing and souvenirs.
